Minoi
Minoi reflects the signature work of Neil Ieremia, where movement produces sound through the union of contemporary movement and Fa'ataupati (Samoan slap dance) traditional dance styles. Minoi premiered as part of the Soul Power season in 1999.
"The initial slow chant brings slow movements that become more dramatic with increased hand clapping and stamping. Their bodies pulsate and contort like movements of the heart"National Business Review, 2000
Deep Far
Deep Far is based on the cyclic nature of weather patterns and was inspired by the New Zealand droughts in 1998. Originally commissioned and performed by the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Deep Far was premiered by the Royal New Zealand Ballet National Road Tour, Wellington in 1998. It is danced to the propulsive music of Afro Celt Sound System.
“(Deep Far is) mesmerizingly gorgeous in its simplicity”The Boston Globe 2005
